An Introduction to Enterprise Micro blogging

Micro blogging is nothing but a broadcast medium for content. However, a micro blog defies the traditional form of blogging when it comes to content. These blogs are restricted to a sentence or a couple of sentences. Such platforms enable users to exchange short notes, images or video links. The usage of social media for marketing has increased substantially. Earlier, social networking platforms were used only to connect with people. Today, with so many active users on social media, it has become a platform to utilize for marketers. Micro blogging is no exception. There is enterprise micro blogging to promote a particular service or product or business.

Micro blogging and social media:
With the rise of Twitter and the instant popularity it gained, micro blogging instantly became a craze. People started preferring these micro texts over more conventional content. The reason for Twitter to gain popularity despite other better sites is the eco-friendly atmosphere it provides. When a social media platform could use a micro blogging site, why not an enterprise? To start a micro blogging platform within an enterprise will not only benefit the organization, but also help develop the employee relationships.

Enterprise micro blogging:
With a micro blog, employees can join in one common location and brainstorm ideas, share links and post news. Every employee can create his or her personal profile and can have access to previous discussions to gain more knowledge. It also enables more efficient communication between the people of various departments.

Anyone within the company can create a micro blog and invite their fellow colleagues to join the platform. Either a company’s own website could be created (which takes a lot of time) or a company can sign-up with the number of enterprise micro blogging websites available like Yammer, Socialcast, Rypple, Obayoo, Cubetree, Socialtext, etc.

The advantages:
All the third-party websites offer customization options and other features which the companies can utilize to create a platform that reflects the work culture of the particular company. Such blogging can also help eliminate lengthy procedures. For example, if an employee wishes to convey a message to all the departments, he can simply share it on the dash board. Similarly, if there are specific messages to be sent to particular employees, he can simply ping them. This eliminates the e-mailing system as well. Employees can have discussions when they are working. If there are any common notices like the yearly common holidays, it can be stored in a public folder.

Employees can also decide the people they wish to subscribe to or the company messages they wish to follow. Enterprise micro blogging helps save a lot of time and resources.

Social media need not be used just for marketing and advertising. It can be used as an effective tool to improve the productivity of your company. Not just for making profits, enterprise micro blogging will also bring together all your employees to one place. It helps achieve an oneness which you may not have achieved before. It is also an excellent stress buster in the hectic work environment.
