StaySafe iPhone App

Do you work, travel, or party late in the evenings? Are you constantly worried about your physical safety when you're away from home? If you've answered "yes" to these questions and also possess an iPhone, you're in luck courtesy of – you guessed it – a mobile application. Introducing StaySafe, iPhone's safety application, that helps you stay and remain safe. Let's see what this app is all about in some more detail:

What StaySafe really does

StaySafe digitally alerts your family, friends, and co-workers of your whereabouts if you don't return to your residence within a specific time frame.

Operational procedure and highlights

Initially, you have to determine a PIN (personal identification number) and enter it in the application.

You have to then enter all your preferred contacts into the application. You would also need to input certain particulars about your expected activities such as work address, flight details, and meetings etc. and also mention the probable completion times of these activities.

If you return before the assigned completion times, the application alert may be disabled or reset for more time by simply entering your PIN. StaySafe will remind you of the impending alert by vibrating or ringing  your phone five minutes ahead of the slated time.

If, however, you do encounter trouble and don't return within the mentioned completion times, the application will transmit your iPhone's Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates through an SMS or email. Moreover, StaySafe has the capability to broadcast up-to-the-minute alerts to your contacts and even provide an interactive GPS map for enhanced tracking .

Remarkably, StaySafe is able to deliver the coordinates even if your phone is turned off, broken, or if its battery fails.

The application can send a "panic" signal though a menu command, which instantly and silently issues the distress SMS or email.

StaySafe also has the power to send a unique "duress" signal, which sends an emergency message to your contacts even though it appears that the application may have been disregarded. This duress alert may be enabled by entering a distinctive and separate PIN.

In the newly launched "Auto Inform" feature, StaySafe is able to automatically alert your acquaintances both at the commencement of your activities as also when you reset or change the application's settings. The latter especially proves extremely beneficial as your friends and family will be cautioned if external elements necessitate altering the settings. The "Auto Inform" facet may be customized for your convenience.

Versions

StaySafe is available in free and premium versions; the latter costs around $8 a month. The premium version incorporates:

Advanced GPS tracking with interactive map

The ability to send SMS (as opposed to only emails in the free version)

The facility to select up to 5 contacts (as opposed to only 1 in the free version)

Compatibility

You must have an iPhone (other than iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G) or an iPad  in order to use StaySafe. It is also necessary that you run iOS 4.3 or newer.

Bottom-line

As an iPhone user, you will find StaySafe a handy tool to guarantee your security and protection. Its advantages of a clean interface, user-friendly navigation, and advanced safety controls make it an application that's hard not to recommend.
