Exciting Upcoming Movie Releases for Christmas 2012

The holidays are the perfect time to head to the movie theater to watch a new film or view a fun movie at home. The children are on break from school and most people have time off of work. To avoid boredom, here is a look at some of the best movies that are set to be released this Christmas season.



The holidays would not be complete without a new Christmas movie. This year, there will be a new addition to the "Home Alone" franchise. "Home Alone 5" will be released directly to DVD and will make its television premiere as well. This movie stars Christian Martyn, a young boy who moves across country to a strange house in Maine. Believing ghosts are present, he sets traps in true "Home Alone" fashion. In the end, he catches robbers as his parents have left him home alone.  It is sure to revive the popular series and bring a whole new audience into the fanbase.

Christmas Day also sees more exciting dramatic releases like Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained". Jamie Foxx stars as a slave named Django who finds himself working with a German bounty hunter. In the end, this film is a combination of a thirst for independence, sacrifice, and survival.

For individuals who prefer comedies, "The Merry Graingers" will also be released December 25, 2012. The story revolves around a family that is forced to spend the holiday together after not seeing each other for over seven years. It takes place on a buffalo ranch where everyone begins to understand each other after years of disagreements and eventually ends on friendly terms.

Adventure lovers will highly anticipate Tom Cruise's latest film entitles "Jack Reacher". This movie is based on the popular Lee Child novel "One Shot". The story includes Jack Reacher, a former military man who becomes entangled into a murder case involving a sniper who has killed a number of random people. The plot thickens as an expert detective, defense attorney, and former POW get involved in the case. This movie hopes to recapture the success of Cruise's last blockbuster released in Christmas 2011.

Families who love fantasy will enjoy the Christmas release of "The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey". As the classic tale is brought to the big screen, the lead character Bilbo Biggins is forced to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor through a wild adventure. It is a story told in the context before the popular "Lord Of The Rings" movies and is adapted in a way that will be ideal for children. It is a movie that will appeal to children and adults alike.

As Christmas is quickly approaching, there are numerous films set to debut. There are various genres that are sure to please the whole family as well as dramas perfect for an adult audience. After the gifts have been opened, time begins to drag. Going to the movies or renting a fun DVD is a great way to spend time together or alone and be entertained through the doldrums of winter.
