5 Unique and Crazy Gift Ideas

Are you bored of giving normal gifts? Fed up with the casual approval when your loved one opens up yet another wine, chocolate and DVD combo? If you want to stand out and give that special someone something they’ll never forget, our unique and crazy gift ideas might be just the thing for you! However, these gift ideas certainly aren’t for the faint hearted so you’ll need to make sure that your lucky recipient has an open mind.

Wing Walking

This gift idea is perfect for someone who likes living life on the edge. Possibly not the best idea for your mother in law; but then that depends on who you married! Wing walking is the act of standing atop a wing, usually on a bi-plane and then holding on tight whilst the pilot performs a series of aerobatic manoeuvres. Reaching high speeds and dizzying heights this is ten times more thrilling than any rollercoaster.

Gumball Rally for Two

If your loved one likes their cars and enjoys a good old road trip, why not fund an entry to the gumball rally. Staged in the USA, the gumball rally 2012 travels across North America attracting some of the craziest people and cars you’ve ever seen. This won’t be the cheapest gift you’ve ever purchased as you’ll have to start by buying an appropriate set of wheels, but it certainly won’t be forgettable.

Extreme Diner Date

Everyone takes their loved ones out for romantic meals, but what about spicing things up a little bit by changing the location to somewhere a little bit more extreme? Nothing’s more romantic than a dining experience with stunning views to boot – so how about turning things up to eleven and climbing Mount Everest or Kilimanjaro for a picnic? Throwing practicality to the wind, your menu is likely to include tasty items such culinary delights like boil in the bag rice, but who cares when the views are that good?

Zero Gravity Experience

If you really are trying to find a gift experience that not many people will ever get to do, then a zero gravity flight could be a good option. Costing nearly $5,000 this flight certainly isn’t cheap, but can you put a price on an unforgettable gift? The ‘Zero G’ experience departs from airfields across the USA and provides around 8 minutes of total weightlessness. This crazy day out also includes a full briefing and a post flight celebration.

Space Travel

Whilst not yet operational, we think that space travel will soon be the gift to beat all gifts. It sounds unbelievable, but Richard Branson has been developing ‘Virgin Galactic ‘as a means for the general public to travel into space. If your budget’s tight then you’d probably better
get saving as tickets are expected to cost $200,000. The aircraft are currently being tested, but the first commercial flights should be taking place within the next few years.
Even if some of these mad ideas are out of reach, hopefully they’ve given you some inspiration to think a little bit outside the box. After all - life can get pretty dull when you don’t take a risk or two; so why not see what you can come up with next time you need to buy a gift for someone special?
