What exactly would the big towns and cities look like assuming they
were plunged into absolute darkness? French photographer Thierry Cohen
chooses to demonstrate what the cities could look like once they went
dark during a clear day. His project "Darkened Cities" exhibits
well-known cityscapes in darkness beneath the night sky. To make
the photographs, Cohen first of all went to places that are uncorrupted
by the light pollution of big cities, catching stunning night shots of
the Milky Way hovering above. Then he mixed these images with manipulated photos of numerous cities to achieve the effect.
