HTC removes HDR microphone from the HTC One’s spec sheet

HTC decided to remove the HDR microphone specification from the list of the features of HTC One specs sheet, from their local official website and promo pages after having some legal battles with Nokia concerning that HDR microphone feature.

HTC One Smartphone of the HTC flagship got the company into to trouble when they used HDR microphone that Nokia claimed that their supplier ST Microelectronics gave out and disobeyed the agreement made between them and Nokia.
Thereafter, Nokia issued a ban of the HTC One from Netherland but the ban was lifted just one day after they were actually given an injunction by the international court. So Nokia failed in issuing the ban of HTC One in Netherlands and the Smartphone is still available in the market all over the world.

HTC working on its own Microphone
HTC is now working on its own microphone so that it will definitely do away with the HDR microphone branding and you will not see that branding anywhere again in the Smartphone marketing materials.
According to HTC, they will continue to integrate STM HDR microphone until the available supplies of those Smartphones in its warehouses last. It seems that the existing Smartphones are safe in this battle between the HTC and the Nokia.

The HDR microphone in question between HTC and Nokia
  • This HDR microphone that Nokia was claiming to be theirs was actually developed by the ST Microelectronics and was done together with the Nokia. The Nokia actually wanted to use it specifically in the Finn’s devices for the next year of their production.
  • The ST Microelectronics however violated this agreement by deciding to allow the HTC to use that particular hardware device in their HTC One flagship without the knowledge of the agreement that was made initially.
  • According to The Hague’s ruling, HTC did not have any idea that the arrangement was made between Nokia and ST Microelectronics. The Hague is now blaming Nokia and the ST Microelectronics for putting such blame on HTC after violating the agreement that they made together for the device microphone.
HTC was allowed by the court to continue selling their HTC One flagship as they used to all over the world but they were to get their own new microphone of which they are currently doing and trying to exclude the HDR microphone from their listings of the Smartphone’s specifications.
