Samsung Galaxy S4 - Rumors Roundup

Looks like the rumor mills do not want to stop working. If rumors are to be believed the successor of Samsung Galaxy S3 is on its way. It is interesting to learn that rumors of Samsung launching Galaxy S3 sparked off last year (2012) during the month of September. One of the highly placed sources from the company said that Samsung has plans to launch Galaxy S4 in the first quarter of 2013. It is believed that Samsung originally planned to unveil Galaxy S4 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain this year.

A few months passed and no news of the Galaxy S4 appeared in the media. However, it was in the month of December last year (2012) rumors about the Galaxy S4 re-emerged. This time news about the features and the specifications of this device began to do the rounds in the media. Here’s a closer look at them

It is learnt that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will see a lot of upgrades in terms of hardware and software. If what is being said about this phone is to be believed, we can expect this phone to have a 5-inch display. This upcoming handset will come with a screen density of 440ppi. This phone will also have the octa-core Exynos 5. All said and done these are just rumors that surfaced in the print, electronic and new media. No news about the features of Samsung Galaxy S4 had been made official by the company then.
What will Samsung name this phone?

Speculations about what this device will be christened are running tall. Chances of Samsung not naming this device S4 are high. Number 4 has proved unlucky for this Korean company. It sounds like ‘death’ in Chinese and Japanese and in Korean it sounds like ‘kill’. If you take a closer look at the names of Samsung phones, you will learn that the company has not used the number 4 in any of its phone names.  Officials from the company say that they believe that number 4 is unlucky for Samsung. We will have to wait and watch what Samsung will call this upcoming Smartphone.

Will this phone come with Youm flexible-display?
At the closing keynote of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung displayed its Youm flexible-display technology. The screen of the phones that will be powered with this high-end technology can be bent at the top and bottom edge and twisted and turned reshaping them. This way only the required amount of screen size that is needed to display alerts and messages will be used.

Behind the screen Samsung says it has used Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology. This technology improves the overall contrast ratio making the colors look deep, rich and pure. In comparison with the traditional LCD display OLED technology offers better power efficiency. Looks like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy model will be powered by the OLED technology and a screen that is foldable and unbreakable.

We will have to wait and watch out for an official announcement form Samsung about the Galaxy S4.
