Pinterest App for Android Receives Update

Pinterest, one of the most popular apps available for Android users, received an update bringing on board better functionality and enhanced user experience. Last week Pinterest announced that it was releasing an update to its Android application. This update is now available on the Google Play Store.
Pinterest, a San Francisco based organization, is a social networking service that allows users to collect, save and share discoveries and favorites with other visitors. With the latest update 1.3, users who frequent Pinterest with their Android mobile will be delighted at the changes brought in by the latest update. Some of the changes are:
  • Group Boards:
The update focuses largely on improvements to its group boards. The latest update, in particular, focuses on the contributors to the board and the group you are currently following. This update allows users to find out all the major contributors to the boards used by you. You will be able to identify who else is pinning to the same boards you are pinning to. This makes it easy for you to identify and link to those people with whom you share similar interests. In short, you can now see who else is pinning to the same board you are pinning to.
  • Control over Boards:
This update also gives users more control over their boards. When a user receives a board invitation, the user can either accept the invitation or reject it. Having accepted an invitation, if you find yourself tired or bored of the content and you are no longer interested in being a part of the group board, you are free to leave the board. Rejecting an invitation or leaving a group board you are already a part of is possible using your updated smartphone or tablet.
  • Pin Images from the Web and with Camera:
Users are free to pin images available on the Web very easily with this update. Apart from the ability to pin images right off the Web, users can also pin images from their camera.

On the whole, the latest update from Pinterest for its Android app, has enhanced its overall group feature experience and brought in a number of improvements to make the app more useful. This update certainly doesn’t bring sweeping changes to Pinterest functionality, however, these incremental updates to the app add to the overall customer experience. This also underlines Pinterest 2013 theme where it has been giving its products continual little tweaks and improvements. Recently, Pinterest also brought in an enhanced version of its Apple iPhone and iPad apps. In addition to these smaller updates, Pinterest has also, apparently, started testing the usefulness of its websites’ new design. The new design is aimed at making pinning easier and surfing the website faster. By bringing in bigger sized pins, slightly tweaked navigation panel and much more, Pinterest is trying to bring about a design that is more pleasing to the eye.

The latest updated version is available for download in the Google Play Store. The updated version should be compatible with devices powered by Android 2.2 and higher. The updated version is also likely to be available on the Amazon App Store in a few days.
