In 2011, Savannah placed seventh on the Traveler's Food and Wine Destination List. Our contact, at one of the best hotels in Savannah Georgia, recommends that visitors experience at least one of these exquisite restaurants located in different areas of the city.
The Olde Pink House Restaurant
This lovely restaurant is located in Savannah's beautiful historic district. The Olde Pink House Restaurant specializes in Low Country cuisine. Named for the surrounding coastal estuaries, this culinary style brings fresh seafood to the table with a special southern touch. Constructed in 1771, the Pink House is one of Savannah's oldest and finest dining destinations. Favorite dishes range from crisp flounder in apricot sauce to grouper with crab stuffing. Soft candlelight illuminates steak au poivre and casts a glow on the extensive wine list. The restaurant's expansive cellar was recently remodeled and serves the same fine food and drink in a more casual atmosphere. Upstairs or downstairs, the wining and dining experience is one of the best in the city.
Il Pasticcio Restaurant and Wine Bar
This Italian treasure in the downtown shopping district charms visitors and locals alike with its beautiful dining room. The antipasto selections include fresh lobster ravioli in pink champagne sauce and skillet roasted mussels. Pan-seared red snapper sits atop risotto of the day, and the mouth-watering osso buco is impossible to resist. Oenophiles will know they're in the right place when they view the wine list featuring a selection of more than 300 bottles. Guests dining in the restaurant's lower level enjoy a spectacular view of the vast wine cellar. It's all carefully stored behind custom glass walls; window shopping should always be this enticing.
The Sapphire Grill
The best bistro in Savannah is part of the exciting nightlife scene that rocks the City Market area. This sleek, contemporary restaurant pairs adventurous dining with a sophisticated wine list. Guests spark their appetites with silky lobster bisque and miniature tuna mignon before moving on to entrées based around the freshest seafood and unusual free-range dishes. Diver scallops encrusted with polenta and white truffled suckling pig are just two examples of this dramatic and imaginative menu. The wine list highlights California and Oregon and offers a multitude of international vintages. The Sapphire Grill isn't located off the beaten path, but its food and wine offerings are deliciously different.
From established traditions to international cuisine and modern menus, Savannah has everything to offer and holds nothing back. Visitors quickly understand why the city placed seventh on the Traveler's Food and Wine Destination list in 2011. A relaxing stroll through the historic district or a day spent shopping at the City Market always ends with a delicious meal and a perfect glass.
