Selecting the Right Airline for Smooth Flying

Traveling is not always the most easy or relaxing. There are a lot of different choices for airlines that are available, and just because one airline is right for one person does not mean that it is the right choice for you. Different airlines offer a variety of amenities, some more than others, so it is important to select an airline that offers the most amenities that are important to you.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines originally made its splash as the “economical” airline. It offered great prices, convenient locations, and a friendly staff. Southwest is still one of the more affordable airlines out there, and while many airlines have had to make cut packs due to the economy Southwest has been able to remain in the black. This has allowed the airline to avoid making certain cutbacks such as charging for luggage, snacks, and primary seating. Southwest has an open seating plan on the first come first serve basis. This means that you board the plane in the order that you check-in, so you can get a window seat or aisle seat at no additional charge. You are also allowed to check up to two bags per passenger that are less than 50 lbs each at no additional charge. You will get to enjoy refreshments such as a drink and a snack that is included in your ticket price. The downside to Southwest is that you do not have a lot of “Luxuries” that a lot of the other airlines offer. There is no Wi-Fi, no first class, and they do not offer personalized televisions or in-flight movies which could make a long flight rather boring.

US Airways

US Airways used to be one of the major contenders when it comes to the major airlines. Unfortunately, due to the downturn in the economy US Airways has suffered a great deal. It does offer flights to a great deal of locations all over the place, but more often than not you will not be able to get a direct flight. Connections often cause problems when flying long distances, so it can be a hassle to have to make several connections in order to get to your destination. The price is still pretty reasonable, but besides the benefit of being able to get a flight to just about anywhere at a somewhat reasonable price there is not a huge benefit to flying with US Airways.

Delta

Delta is another airline that was hit pretty hard by the economy. It has been able to survive, partly because it is one of the largest airline networks that are available. It will fly throughout the US as well as all over the world and have several affiliates in order to make sure you get from point A to point B on Delta or a Delta affiliate. True Delta has sacrificed some of the “free” options that many other airlines have eliminated such as free luggage, but they did so in order to keep many of their “Luxuries” that few airlines offer. When you fly with Delta, especially on international flights you could end up with a personalized television screen in which you can select TV shows, movies, or informative videos to watch during your flight. Delta also offers in-flight Wi-Fi which will allow you to connect your computer or laptop to enjoy online services while flying. The downside to Delta is that you may have to make connections and may not end up with a direct flight, and Delta flights are generally a little bit more expensive.

Overall, the bottom line about flying is that the perfect airline for you can be selected based on the things that are most important to you. Cost may be the most important aspect of your flying experience while the luxuries are worth the money to someone else.
