Cormorant fishing is an old fashioned fishing technique during which fishermen take advantage of trained cormorants in order to fish in rivers. To manipulate these birds, the fishermen tie up a snare close to the bottom of the birds neck. This keeps the birds from eating bigger fish that are kept in their throat. Every time a cormorant has caught a fish, the fisherman brings him into the fishing boat using ropes attached with their bodies.
