Alpine Park That Becomes a Lake

Here is the Green Lake (GrĂ¼ner See) in Tragoess, Styria, that is located at the foot of Hochschwab mountains. During the frosty winter season the location is practically totally dry and is put to use as being a county park. However, after the temperatures start to go up in spring, the ice and snow over the mountaintops starts to melt, this recreation area floods with crystal clear water, which becomes green colored because of grass and plants underneath. The water ranges from around a couple of meters deep during the winter season up to 10 meters during the summer time, when it turns into a paradise for divers willing to take a look at the unusual sensation, prior to the waters recede by the end of July.
