Canadian Airports Now Eavesdropping On Passenger Conversations

Security of global airports is a key concern to many airports in the world and different security measures have been taken for this purpose. Threats from the terrorists, illegal trespassing, and smuggling are the most important security issues for any airport. Canadian airports are going to implement a new security measure by recording the conversation of people at the airport. CBSA (Canada Border Service Agency) has already started installing microphones and high definition cameras at different airports and border crossing points at Canada. Voice recording was part of audio-visual surveillance at many places over Canada. The recent security approach from CBSA will install high tech audio recorder in order to record the conversation of people with high quality audio streaming.

This new security approach will not only record the conversation of the passengers in the airport, but the conversation of airport officials will also be recorded by this system. Recording the conversation of general people at the airport is a new security measure, and the authority has decided to deploy this strategy in order to tighten the security of the airport and know about the activity of their employees at the same time. Reports from different intelligent have market not less than fifty eight different crime groups who are active at different airports. Moreover, these groups are trying to manipulate the employees inside the airport in order to commit different crimes without facing any problem. Many crime groups have managed the recruitment process for different positions at narcotic department and immigration. Such problems come with significant threat on the airport security, and the authority has planned to implement new security measures for these reasons.
Many people have already raised questions about the legal validity of installing conversation recording techniques at public places like airport. These people are concern about their privacy, and they are afraid about the breach in their privacy by the name of new security measures. Besides of many individuals, different human rights organizations have also asked the same question about the validity or recording conversation in the public place and the privacy of the general people. The Canadian security authority has already declared to place a sign or symbol where they have planned to install the voice recording technology. This has also questioned the effectiveness of the system, as people can know about such voice recording process at a certain place. This will help the criminals to get an alert at specific public places, and they will find alternative than talking at those places.
CSBA and other relevant authorities at Canada are closely working on both security and privacy assessment about the new security measures at different airports. It is hard to install such security measures in a country like Canada, where people are concern about their right and privacy law. In the other hand, the authority is receiving continuous threat from different crime group and terrorist organizations. They need to take care of both privacy and security issue of the people and come up with an accepted solution for this purpose.
