Perhaps you will be incredulous for my saying so, but there are times in life when a relaxing, secluded, beachside vacation just isn’t appealing. Sometimes we need action and excitement. So for those of you who happen to be feeling the spontaneous irresistible urge for loud music, a sudden rush of blood to the head, and an action-packed adventure worthy of writing home about, we’ve put together this list of the five most exciting cities in the world. Here they are:

Otherwise known as Sin City, USA, this ‘Disneyland For Adults’ is the place to go for anyone seeking a healthy dose of debauchery. The infamous Las Vegas Strip is home to countless towering luxury casinos where you can find everything from a booming nightclub scene, to baby lions, to rollercoasters, to unbelievable circus performances, concert venues, championship boxing matches, and just about anything else you could possibly think to want. Believe it or not, you can even arrange to fly shotgun in a fighter jet over the surrounding desert. And did I mention the gambling?
If the notoriously gorgeous Latin locals aren’t enough to get your blood pumping, don’t worry, there is plenty more that will. No other city in the southern hemisphere attracts more annual visitors than Rio, and for good reason. It is host to the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympics, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and arguably the most notorious party in the world: Carnaval. Between the thriving beach scene, the world-class surfing, the bars, and the incredible culture, there is a lot to get your heart racing in Rio.

You can’t go wrong looking for excitement in the largest city in the world.
The skyline alone is enough to inspire an adrenaline rush. Ultra high-tech, extremely sophisticated, and densely developed, this place has a bit of everything. You can see world championship Formula One Racing, experience the legendary club scene, take in the view from atop the third tallest skyscraper in the world, attend amusement parks, concerts, and even shoot automatic weapons at a gun range––and the list goes on and on.
Ah, Bangkok. This Thai capital city is quite unlike anywhere else in the world. Though lacking in the architectural beauty and sophistication of cities like Rio and Shanghai, it is by no means lacking excitement. It is no exaggeration to claim that anything money can buy can be bought in Bangkok. Anything. And from skyscraper rooftop bars, to the thrill/horror of weaving through traffic on a motorbike taxi, to the notorious ‘ping-pong’ shows, and the dense crowds of youthful partiers on Khaosan Road, there is no end to the action.
Speaking of action, Ibiza is about as action-packed as things can get. On the one hand, the island is quaint, ancient, and breathtakingly beautiful. But on the other, it is a riotous summertime party hub where headline DJs from around the world converge to entertain thousands of youthful partygoers. The club scene is unparalleled, the music is deafening, the people are beautiful, and the parties don’t stop until long after the sun comes up.
