There is a lot of competition out there for tough, durable and generally strong watches, with most brands having at least one watch design that they claim is their toughest.

Luminox provide watches for the U.S. Navy SEAL’s, pretty much saying everything you need to know about how tough these watches are. Brilliant for coping with all water based activities; many of the range are even waterproof to 200m, meaning that they can withstand the depths of a divers watch, without being a divers watch.
Wenger have a range of watches available that they have named ‘Commando’, suggesting that these watches are the toughest of the toughest and the best of the best. Which isn’t far off, they have super durable straps, solid steel casing and a solid 100m water resistance. Maybe not quite the commando it is billed to be, but a decent squaddie non the less.
Timex do several watches that they boast to be tough and durable, most notably the Ironman watch, which can pretty much take anything that the human body can, built to accompany you through any exercise or activity you want to do, it is built with triathlons in mind. Bumps, bangs, scrapes and water are no trouble at all…
But none of these can compare to the daddy of all tough watches, watches that you can treat worse than an old pair of boots and they just keep ticking, no matter the test, no matter what you’re doing, they just keep ticking… of course, we are talking about the Casio G-Shock Range.
Casio G-Shock watches across the whole range are designed to be tough, so even the basic models at lower prices offer awesome levels of toughness. Run them over, drop them off a cliff, boil them or freeze them, your G-Shock will probably be just fine. There have even been reports on one soldier being shot in his G-Shock, and although his wrist was broken, the watch prevented the bullet from severing his artery which would have inevitably killed him.
How many watches can boast that they have saved a mans life? Not many I’d bet, so that’s why the Casio G-Shock as a range gets the top prize, for not only being hard as nails but come at a great range of prices too!
