The show planned for the 8th-11 October is part of a special charity event. With over 70,000 visitors planned here is a run down of this special doll show...
The 5th "Doll Salon" event is once again going to be held in Moscow, Russia from the 8th until the 11th of October. As part of this enormous show, doll artist Swetlana Ptschelnikov has organised a truly wonderful charity opportunity for the 70,000 guests that are planned for.
The show is run over some 1500m² and 20,000 guests a day came last year to see the dazzling displays of doll art which include antique dolls, doll houses, cloth dolls and bears and much more.
Apart from the displays there are also many courses on offer and these are being run by the many guilds that are a part of the show.
Swetlana Ptschelnikova is not only the organiser of the show but also the editor of the Russian dolls magazines "The world of dolls" and "Talent. She is also the president of the Union of Russian doll collectors and other groups
One large goal for this show and event is to help children with heart and circulation diseases, and who don´t have the means to fund their own treatment. The idea is that numerous VIP guests that are coming to the show will receive a mould of a porcelain doll and they are to finish the dolls, which then goes up for auction. The money gathered through the auction will then be donated to help the children. So the buyers have the chance, not only to get an absolutely unique doll, but they can also help children in need.
The charity „VIP Dolls for Children“ was recognised as being "Best social project" in 2007 and raised over 3.000.000 Roubles (approx $97.000) for the children and saved the lives of over 50 children.
