The House Of Versace

Sotheby's has recreated the interior of Gianni Versace's opulent Lake Como villa at its Bond Street residence ahead of its sale of the late designer's extensive neo-classical collection of artwork and furnishings. Highlights from the Villa Fontanelle - which was sold last year - include 19th-century stucco casts of Antonio Canova's Pair Of Pugilists estimated to be worth up to £40,000, a pair of cherry-wood bookcases by Karl Roos worth £120,000 and a previously unseen painting by 18th-century artist Johann Zoffany. The lots, numbering 550 in total, are expected to fetch in excess of £2m when they go under the hammer on 18 March.
