Sleeping Dogs: Thrilling and Consistently Enjoyable Games

Sleeping Dogs was finally released in August of 2012. This was after years of preparation, building, and even having been moved from developer to developer. It was well worth the wait for players on the Windows OS, Xbox, or PS3 are able to enjoy this action/adventure game with ease, and they have been doing so in droves.

The Gamers’ Abilities
The setting for the game is Hong Kong, and it will be your characters job to go in undercover and infiltrate one of the Triad gangs. The main character, Wei Shen, is a police officer that is trying to take down the Sun on Yee Triad gang. Your character, Wei Shen, will be played with a 3rd person prospective. The game setup is very much like that of GTA (Grand Theft Auto) where you are able to run, seek our challenges, drive, swim, or walk. The difference is that instead of running around town wreaking havoc you are now on the other side of the law, but with a foot in each world.
You will have the availability of a large range of weapons to choose from in order to battle your opponents, and if it comes to hand to hand combat you are skilled with the martial arts moves of a black belt. The actual action of the game play takes several of your favorite games and combines the best aspects about them to end with the result of Sleeping Dogs. You have amazing graphics for the hand to hand combat, you are able to use your weapons freely including being able to focus in on a specific person or even a region of their body, and the driving aspect of the game will challenge some of the most entertaining racing games.

The Breakdown
The game play is great in Sleeping Dogs. You have several options for how you will be able to play the game. There are missions that will need to be completed, but you do not have to jump from mission to mission in order to be able to play the game. You will have several options for other entertaining aspects of the game that you may participate in while you are taking a break from your missions. You are an undercover cop, so your end result will be to defeat the Triad and bring them to justice but you will need to participate in some of their crimes in order to grow their trust and build a bond.

There is a large range of criminal activities that you will be able to participate in such as some gambling rings that include cock fighting, street racing against some of the best drivers in Hong Kong, carjacking, teaching someone a lesson with your martial arts skills, joining a club where all the members do is fight each other, or simply partying down and singing some karaoke. These tasks are meant to entertain you when you want to take a break from the missions, or when you feel like you want to play the game but have a limited time. It is a great way to explore the layout of the land.

The missions are crucial to the overall game play. It may seem like there are enough activities to keep you occupied even if you do not participate in any of the missions, but you will be missing out on the heart of the game. When you begin your game play you will only have access to a very limited area of Hong Kong. You will need to branch out, complete missions, gain contacts, and work your way up in order to be able to progress through the game and throughout the city. The more missions that you complete the more difficult the new ones will become. The game is challenging yet entertaining. Overall it can entertain you for quite a while no matter how long you park yourself in front of it.
