Facebook Phone Spark Up

It seems that Facebook wants to make its venture into the mobile phone world too. Yes, you heard it right. That is what the recent rumors point to. It seems that these rumors have been in existence for some time and now they are back again.

This time, the rumors are more detailed making a number of claims and giving out more information. The HTC Opera UL is repeatedly being reported as the social network’s official mobile phone. A reliable yet secret source claims that the HTC Opera UL is an OEM mobile phone that is designed specifically for Facebook.

Specifications
Leaked information suggests that the device will feature a 1.4GHz processor and run on a different Operating system named Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The absolute identity of this new processor is not known. But from the rumors, we come to know that it pairs with a Qualcomm Adreno 305 that compensates the power factor.

The GPU is coupled with Snapdragon S4 Plus and the screen has a 1280 x 720 display (although it’s a standard feature of the HTC high-end phones). There is no word on the device featuring full keyboards or simply a touch screen mode of operation. Going by the resolution specifications, it is more likely that the machine will have only touch screen operation but only time will give us an accurate solution.

The new device is not expected any soon. There is no word or final date on its release. But Facebook has sternly denied the fact that it intends to launch its own phone. However, it’s hard to believe that there is nothing coming out from Facebook’s end especially with the abundance of rumors that exist all the time. So keep your fingers crossed to see if the software giant is going to venture into the kingdom of hardware.

It is also rumored that Facebook would make alterations to its software similar like Amazon Kindle. Rumors also say Facebook has been hiring numerous ex-iPad and ex-iPhone engineers for its own purposes.

HTC could be a key player
HTC Salsa and HTC Chacha, closely associated with Facebook were not all that successful when they were launched in mid-2011. But that has not put off the social giant or the manufacturer as fresh rumors surround them for the upcoming years.

Other reports suggest that the new phone is going to be a forked model of Android and not a Google-approved one. The latest reports are also associated with a story from Bloomberg that appeared some months ago. These stories report that a modified range of Android would be used in a Facebook phone built by HTC, to be released in 2013. Delays prevented it from being launched in late 2012. HTC has been mouth–zipped on this subject and seems to play the safe game. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has rubbished the ideas claiming that such a device would never make any sense.
With many phones running on iOS6 and with Windows Phone 8 having deep integration of Facebook, there would absolutely be no necessity for such a development. But as always, rumors keep coming and there is no stopping that.
