A Whole New World with Windows 8

If there is one area of our lives where evolution is at its busiest, it will be in information technology. New development in technology happens in less than a year. Companies who are major players in this industry do not run out of ideas how to make our lives easier and more exciting when it comes to extracting information. The cool gadgets and innovative software say it all. And where evolution is discussed, Microsoft will not be one to just sit on the sidelines. The company who has introduced us to the use of icons for easy computer access has unveiled its newest baby – the Windows 8 OS.

So what’s so special about Microsoft’s newest baby? For one, it is already loaded with more than 300 new features, not to mention new words and phrases to your ever-increasing IT vocabulary.

What’s So Cool about Windows 8?
If you have just heard Windows 8, you might be wondering how special Microsoft’s latest offering is? Let’s list a few out of those hundreds of new features.

1. It’s all about touch. Microsoft has smart phones in mind when they developed Windows 8 – they meant the new generation tablets and laptops behave like smart phones where it allows you to be connected even if your gadgets are in standby mode. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about connecting and re-connecting again and again. Moreover, this touch-based OS allows you to have the general idea of a certain application without opening it.

2. Multitasking to the next level. A good computer allows you to multitask without lagging or hanging. The new Windows 8 introduces you to snap multitasking where you can easily navigate between apps by resizing them or placing them side by side for easier view. With snap multi-tasking, you can say goodbye to clicking and switching windows at the bottom of your PC. Instead, you can swipe from window to window just like your smart phone.

3. Be charmed. Want to personalise the settings of each app? With Windows charms, you can easily do this by simply dragging them to the bottom of your PC or swipe them from the side of your tablet. No matter which method you use, charms allow you to access the app and system settings of your gadget.

4. Type that suits your taste. Since Windows 8 was designed with tablets in mind, not only will it be filled with apps, but other features that are tablet-compatible as well, such as the touch keyboard. If you are worried about having a hard time doing this, never fear because it has two keyboard designs – each for touch and non-touch users where you can use both hands like a traditional keyboard.

5. Double your monitor. Another cool feature of Windows 8 includes one which allows you to use multiple monitors for a more enhanced user experience. It is just like stretching your desktop wallpaper to two or more monitors instead of one.

6. Runs at faster speed. Windows has answered the clamour for speed by making the operating system compatible with USB 3.0, which makes your PC run ten times faster than the previous versions of Windows OS. However, not because it is modified, the files used in the old OS cannot function because they are.
Windows 8 is paving the way for the next big generation of tablets and personal computers. Once again, Microsoft has proven itself as an innovator.
