10 Most Bizarre Dog Tricks

People are always trying to train their dogs to do something new and unique; anything from simply teaching their dog to sit to teaching their dog to talk. Many have a hard enough time teaching their dog to stay put when they leave the house, but some dog trainers have gone far and beyond the norm when teaching their dogs new tricks. Check out some of these incredible and bizarre tricks that have been taught to man’s best friend over the years.

1.) Say Your Prayers

Teaching your dog how to say its prayers is an adorable way to impress your friends and family, especially if they are religious. This trick involves having your dog raise their paws onto your arm or a flat surface and bowing their head towards their paws, as if they were in prayer. Below is a tutorial video and an example of what the trick looks like.

2.) Be Shy

Another humorous dog trick involves giving your dog a “be shy” command. If trained properly, dogs will raise one of their paws and bring their head towards the ground in an attempt to hide their head. When done correctly, your dog will appear timid and scared as they try to hide themselves with their own paws. Below is a great example of what the trick looks like!

3.) Front Paws

The majority of dog breeds do not have the correct physique to walk around on their front paws, but there are some smaller breeds capable of doing so. Training a dog move at all on their front paws is nearly impossible; in fact, many times, no training is required as the dog tends to try it out on their own! Check out the video below for a phenomenal example of a dog taking advantage of its front legs.

4.) Backflips

If you can train your dog to do backflips, enter in the next dog showing contest immediately. Most human beings cannot even pull off a backflip, but to see a dog pull off the feat is extraordinary. Once again, most dogs do not have the build to perform a backflip, but if it can be taught, all the power in the world to the trainer. Take a look at this acrobatic little poodle!

5.) Back Paws

Contrary to the back paws and a little more common, many dogs are able to carry and balance their body weight on their hind legs, even larger breeds. Nearly every dog can jump up, obviously, but training it to walk around is quite difficult still. This dog takes it to the next level and walks up the stairs on its hind legs!

6.) Play Dead

If you really think about it, acting dead is a rather weird trick to teach a pet. Some pets just lie on their backs, but others take it to a whole new level. Twitching, tongue out, and even urinating really pulls off a legitimate fake death.

7.) Fetch

For such a rather simple trick, many dogs are not capable of playing catch or fetch. Many dogs, on the other hand, are masters of using their mouth as a glove!

8.) Acts of Heroism

While they are no tricks, they are definitely something that you can brag about when talking about your dog. Dogs love people and their fellow dog friends and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

9.) Laundry

This trick speaks for itself, but you have to see it to believe it. Wouldn’t we all love this helper?

10.) The Incredible Talking Dog

Last but not least, most people feel quite accomplished when they are able to get their dog to sit. However, Mishka the Siberian husky has taken dog tricks to a whole new level. Believe it or not, Mishka can talk. Sure, you have to use your imagination to put together some of her words, but there are definitely some audible phrases in her dog dialect. Mishka has become a YouTube sensation, garnering tens of millions of views among her online videos. If you are still a skeptic, you might want to try watching this video.
