Five Serial Killers They Should Make a Movie About

The first serial killer film, M, was released in 1931 and was followed up by Alfred Hitchcock’s Shadow of a Doubt. The public phenomenon of this genre continued on, with movies like Psycho and Silence of the Lambs, and is now seen in TV shows like Dexter or even on talk shows where women tell the co-hosts about her love for the latest incarcerated serial killer.
Serial killer movies fill the void that most horror films do not; they have the potential to scare you forever. A horror film may make you jump, but it doesn’t have you checking your closets or under the bed when you are too old to ask mom and dad to check for monsters. Not all of the serial killer stories make the movies but some are chilling enough to warrant an October release. Here are five serial killers who are overshadowed by the Dahmer’s, Bundy’s and Manson’s, but would still make great stories for great Hollywood flicks.

1. Douglas Gretzler and William Steelman

Doug and Willie met while drifting aimlessly around the Southwestern United States.  With a killing spree that only lasted a week and a half this duo was responsible for 18 murders, nine of which happened in one night. Seven of the nine victims were stuffed in a walk-in closet while the other two were left on the bed.  Soon after Gretzler and Steelman left, the house guest came home and stayed the night, unaware of the nine dead bodies. That story writes itself.

2. Richard Trenton Chase

Richard was dubbed the vampire killer of Sacramento because part of his killing routine involved drinking blood and eating body parts of his victims, all of whom were disemboweled and had their organs removed. Inside his house, they found three blenders full of blood and several dishes containing body parts.  One third of Richards victims were children.

3. Charles Ng

His partner in crime committed suicide, leaving Charles to face the law alone.  What started out as a shoplifting arrest kicked off a thorough investigation that would uncover proof of potential 25 murders, porno videos, a hostage cell, an extradition battle with Canada and the most expensive criminal trial in the history of the United States.

4. Andrew Cunanan

This is the man responsible for the death of Italian designer, Gianni Versace. Versace may have been the big name in this case, but he was the last one killed in a string of murders that spanned from Minnesota to Miami.

5. Edmund Emil Kemper III

Edmund already has connections to two serial killer films, Silence of the Lambs and American Psycho. Buffalo Bill references the murder of Edmunds grandparents in Silence of the Lambs and American Psycho used this quote from Edmund: “When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things: One part of me wants to take her home, be real nice and treat her right; the other part wonders what her head would look like on a stick.” Other than that, Edmund is responsible for at least ten murders of his own.
