10 Most Stupid Guinness World Records

The Guinness World Records is the biggest selling copyrighted book on the planet to date. There are some truly amazing world records in there that will never be forgotten. The world’s firsts, largest, tallest, longest, shortest achievements can be found in the book and to be in it means to be remembered forever. However, along with all the amazing feats in the book, there are
some incredibly stupid ones bordering on the ridiculous.

Longest Ear Hair

Radhakant Baiijpai from India first set the record for longest ear hair growing from the center of the ear in 2003. Back then, his longest ear hair was 13.2cm. Apparently his wife was always asking him to trim his ear hair (shockingly), but the Guinness World Record book saved Radhakant and his ear hair as the hair was now something to be proud of.
Unfortunately, Anthony Victor, also from India, broke the record in 2007 with his ear hair measuring 18.1cm. It appears Radhakant is still determined to make a comeback though and continues to grow his ear hair to this day.

Longest Distance Thrown in a Car Accident

In 2001, Matthew McKnight went to help another motorist in need on a busy highway.  Unfortunately, whilst trying to help, McKnight was hit by a car travelling at 70mph and catapulted up into the air, landing a full 118 feet away from his original point.
The force of the landing broke several bones in his body, but McKnight was able to make a full recovery after many rehab sessions. This record is probably not one that people will be lining up to try and break.

Loudest Burp

At a show in the UK, local man, Paul Hunn managed to burp at 107.1db and set the world record, perhaps not something to use as an opening chat-up line for the ladies.

Longest Place Name in the World

A hill in New Zealand takes the title for this record. Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateahaumaitawhitiurehaeaturipuk-
akapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu is 107 characters long. It’s no wonder the locals have shortened it to Taumata.
Coming second is a small town in Wales, UK. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch has 58 letters and is the longest place-name in Europe.

Cycling Backwards Playing the Violin

Christian Adam cycled 60.45km in five hours and nine minutes through a Suisse motorway tunnel. Sat on the handlebars, facing the seat which had been converted into a music stand for his sheet music, the violinist cycled backwards down the tunnel playing J.S Bach.

Largest Sick Bag Collection

Over 40 years, Niek Vermulen has collected a staggering 6016 sick bags. The bags are from 1142 airlines and 160 countries. Thankfully, the bags have not been used. Niek claims his favorite bag of all is the NASA bag from a space shuttle which was actually launched and was in space for over two weeks.

Most Wins in the Gurning Championships

A bizarre one for the UK. Every year in a sleepy fishing town in Cumbria, England, the Egremont crab fair takes place. Here is where people have gathered since 1267 to witness the Gurning Championship. The idea is to contort the face as much as possible.
Most wins for males is held by Tommy Mattinson – 12 times
Most wins for females is proudly held by Anne Wood who has won the face pulling competition a whole 27 times.

Most Kicks to the Head

Joshua Reed has successfully kicked himself in the head 115 times in one minute on the third successful attempt to break his own record at this task.

Most Ferrero Rocher Eaten in One Minute

Jim Lyngvild from Copenhagen managed to set the record for most Ferrero rocher chocolates eaten, devouring 7 in a minute. This may be stupid, but it’s quite fun to try.

Wearing the Most T-shirts

Luke Baker from the UK managed to don 20 t-shirts in a minute and was rewarded by a new world record title and, most likely, a lot of sweat from all those t-shirts.
