We all know that cheese goes well with almost everything—wine, pasta, vegetables, even fruit. But did you know there are sculptors around the country who use monstrous blocks of cheese for their…art? Whether made by professional carvers or self-described food gurus, cheese sculptures have grown in popularity over the last few years. From Abe Lincoln to the Eiffel Tower, these eight seriously impressive hunks of cheese are definitely worth a look.

Winners Drink Milk


The well-known Wisconsin native and cheese sculptor Sarah Kaufmann designed this for the Indiana State Fair in 2007 out of locally made mild Cheddar cheese.

Merry Dairy Christmas

For the holiday season, Kaufmann has carved a variety of festive things, including this “Have a Merry Dairy Christmas” calf she made for New York’s dairy building.

Eiffel Tower

Yet another amazing cheese feat from “The Cheese Lady” Sarah Kaufmann, this Eiffel Tower is a true-to-life replica of the famous Parisian landmark.

Abraham Lincoln

Taking a stand as “the big cheese” in Washington, DC, this sculpture of the 16th President of the United States was made from a 1,000-pound block of mild Cheddar cheese by sculptor Troy Landwehr.

Family of Cheese

At the Indianapolis State Fair in 2009, this hodgepodge of cheese figures totaled a whopping 1,418 pounds! It truly is “the cheesiest rendition of a family” we’ve seen.

Koi Fish

Cruises are famous for their immaculate buffets complete with top-notch food and presentations. This fish sculpture was on display during the Gala Buffet on a 2008 Carnival cruise.
